Nearby highlights include Black Point headland trails (6-minute walk), Pebble Beach access trail (12-minute walk), The Sea Ranch Lodge restaurant, lounge and café (14-minute walk). Trails lead from your door to the bluffs, beaches, and through the forest. Heated pools, tennis courts, a fitness center, and The Sea Ranch Lodge round out the amenities. Gualala is a quick 10-minute drive south for groceries, dining, and fuel. For a scenic outing, Jenner and Bodega Bay are further down Highway 1.

Guest access
This is your private retreat for the duration of your stay -- full run of the house. The private hot tub is available around the clock -- no reservation needed. This home welcomes up to 2 dogs -- the yard and nearby trails are ready for your pup. Driveway parking is available at the property. Detailed check-in instructions, including the door code, will be provided prior to your arrival. As a guest, you also have access to Sea Ranch community amenities including the pools, tennis courts, fitness center, and miles of trails. A recreation pass will be provided.
Things to know
Heads up -- there is an active construction project on the neighboring lot. Work typically takes place on weekdays from 7 AM to 7 PM, and occasionally on weekends. While it may result in some noise during those hours, evenings and most weekends remain peaceful and quiet.
Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times.
Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast.
Keep your eyes on the horizon from December to April -- gray whales migrate just offshore, and this property has a front-row seat. Visit in spring and the meadows explode with wildflowers. April through June is peak bloom season along the Sonoma Coast. The warmest months are June through September. Expect coastal fog most mornings that gives way to sunny afternoons.
Up to 2 dogs are welcome. Please keep dogs on leash on trails and clean up after them.
Cell service can be spotty along the coast. The home has WiFi for staying connected.

We've stayed at many Sea Ranch houses and the Schooner House falls into one of the more personal homes. Overall, we had a great time: the setting in the forest side has a limited but spectacular view of the ocean in the distance. There's lots of yard to explore and for youngsters to run around in. It' has a very nice hot tub (although we needed more information on how to operate it) and the owners' personal library is a treasure. We're guessing this house is just now being made available to visitors because there are still some wrinkles to be worked out. One room hadn't been aired out and we were counting on that for the kids but the mildew was too much. Sometimes a property will have issues -- we get that -- and the Castago team was great in responding. We left a bag behind and they were great in finding it and mailing it to us.

Disappointed with this stay — it doesn’t live up to a five-star rating. We walked into the Airbnb with a full trash can inside the kitchen, as well as the outside dumpster. We booked for the three bathrooms, but only two of three showers worked, which was a real problem for our group size. Maintenance timing was unclear and kept shifting. The host responded promptly but never actually resolved the bathroom issue — I ended up working it out directly with Airbnb support instead. Wouldn’t recommend based on this experience.

This lovely Sea Ranch house was perfect for a long weekend get away. The view of the ocean through the trees was an amazing. We enjoyed the library, cooking, the hot tub, and eating out on the deck. The house was immaculate. We would gladly stay again.

Our Sea Ranch stay at the beautiful Binker Barn home was outstanding; perfect for our large family to gather with plenty of room to spread out. The gas fireplace warmed the cozy coastal evenings, and the amazing kitchen proved well stocked enough for hosting large meals. Between the numerous reading nooks, hundreds of interesting books, hot tub, board games, cozy beds, and Sea Ranch rec center, we found plenty of amenities to enjoy a very comfortable stay. Lovely!
