Your vacation begins in the great room, where exposed beams create a wonderfully rustic atmosphere and solarium-style windows bring the magnificent outdoors in. Turn on the gas fireplace each morning as you read the newspaper on the sofa, or use the telescope to watch for whale spouts on the horizon. The immaculate open kitchen enjoys the same panoramic ocean views and features modern appliances to make meal preparation a pleasure. Nearby highlights include community heated pool (North) (9-minute walk), Shell Beach tidepools (7-minute drive), The Sea Ranch Lodge restaurant, lounge and café (7-minute drive). Trails lead from your door to the bluffs, beaches, and through the forest. Heated pools, tennis courts, a fitness center, and The Sea Ranch Lodge round out the amenities. Gualala is a quick 10-minute drive south for groceries, dining, and fuel. For a scenic outing, Jenner and Bodega Bay are further down Highway 1.

Guest access

You will have full access to the entire home and all its amenities during your stay. The private hot tub is available around the clock -- no reservation needed. This home welcomes up to 2 dogs -- the yard and nearby trails are ready for your pup. Parking is available in the garage. Detailed check-in instructions, including the door code, will be provided prior to your arrival. As a guest, you also have access to Sea Ranch community amenities including the pools, tennis courts, fitness center, and miles of trails. A recreation pass will be provided.

Things to know

This vacation rental is not equipped with air-conditioning. Spend a relaxing morning at home playing a board game, using the WiFi to work in the office, or reading in the comfort of the library as the stereo plays in the background. Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times. Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast. December through April is whale season. You may spot gray whales breaching right from the bluff trail nearby. Wildflower season (April-June) transforms the coastal bluffs into a tapestry of color -- worth an extra walk on the trails. Summer offers long days and warm afternoons, though the iconic Sonoma Coast fog often rolls in at sunrise and clears by noon. Up to 2 dogs are welcome. Please keep dogs on leash on trails and clean up after them.
