This family retreat is in an ideal Sea Ranch meadow location. The home is harmonious with nature and affords many pet-friendly and kid-friendly features. There are two bedrooms downstairs. Also downstairs is a spacious kitchen, dining, and living room space with fireplace, window seats, and a kid and pet-friendly composite floor. Upstairs is a bunkroom that is just perfect for kids of all ages. The maximum occupancy is eight and two dogs can join you! This home has a great blue water ocean view and decks facing the ocean, just begging for someone to sit and quietly contemplate. Driveway parking is available at the property. Detailed check-in instructions, including the door code, will be provided prior to your arrival. As a guest, you also have access to Sea Ranch community amenities, including the pools, tennis courts, fitness center, and miles of trails. A recreation pass will be provided.
Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times. Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast. December through April is whale season. You may spot gray whales breaching right from the bluff trail nearby. Wildflower season (April-June) transforms the coastal bluffs into a tapestry of color -- worth an extra walk on the trails. Summer offers long days and warm afternoons, though the iconic Sonoma Coast fog often rolls in at sunrise and clears by noon. Up to 2 dogs are welcome. Please keep dogs on leash on trails and clean up after them. Cell service can be spotty along the coast. The home has WiFi for staying connected.

This is a great location! The house is large and spacious with a nice kitchen. The large view windows were in need of widow-washing, some of the cookware needed to be scrubbed before using, and there was some rot in the wood surrounding of one of the showers. Most disappointing was that the twin beds were uncomfortable and squeaky...probably ok for kids, but we were a group of 5 adults on a getaway. Difficult for everyone to get a good night's sleep.

This review is difficult to write because the location and style of the home are really great. It SHOULD be an amazing place to stay. However, it is not. What you see in the pictures is, for the most part, accurate. What you cannot see is how poorly this home is cared for and how inadequately it is stocked. You also cannot see the severe water damage, mold and smell which made this home inhabitable for us and our small children. You could choose to tough out a few days of discomfort, but the lifelong complications mold spores can cause when breathed in for multiple days are no joke. This issue really needs to be addressed. The furniture in the home isn’t just outdated, it’s so cheap and worn you can’t even comfortably use it. The pots/pans were in terrible condition. The cabinets/drawers the dishes are stored in were filthy. I’m not afforded enough characters to properly describe the disappointment we felt having booked this place. It could and should be better. Book somewhere else.

The Good: If travelling with dogs and you want to stay in an architectural gem and walk to coastal trails and beaches, and that's all you care about - stop reading now and book this place. The Bad: Overflowing trash. Hot tub broken, multiple calls to fix. Carpet in two bedrooms reeks of musty pet urine. One bed frame was collapsing. Fridge drawers and light bulb broken. Windows inoperable due to broken handles, and screens were damaged. Had to clean exterior windows ourselves to enjoy the views. Floor vents in bedrooms clogged with matted pet hair. Lock on an exterior bedroom sliding door was broken. Knives are dull. Horrible couch. Broken deck slats. Notified host of all, only the hot tub got fixed. The Ugly: I had to ask for a refund and the host agreed in writing to refund 1/3 of the cost of our stay. After we left it took days for the host to follow up. When they finally did, the refund was for less than the cost of one night's stay. Disappointingly dishonest business practices.

Regarding your refund, we would like to clarify that the agreement was to refund one-third of the nightly rental amount only, not one-third of the total reservation cost, which includes Airbnb service fees, taxes, and other charges that are collected separately. The refund issued was consistent with that agreement. We appreciate you bringing the maintenance concerns to our attention. Several of the items you mentioned were addressed immediately during or following your stay, and we continue to make improvements to the property to ensure a better experience for future guests. Such a beautiful place to spend a few days. Loved the short walk to the beaches and trails and the hot tub access when we were home. The kitchen was perfect for making meals with lots of cooking equipment. Would definitely stay here again.
