A true forest retreat awaits at this blissfully private Sea Ranch home, a secluded coastal hideaway tucked among lush ferns and towering redwoods. It's a side of Sea Ranch you'll delight in exploring, with miles of nature trails - leading to the Gualala River and the Sea Ranch Hot Spot - practically outside your door. Designed by Don Jacobs and built by Jack Richardson in 1978, this home sits on an oversize parcel of land that abuts quiet, open space. Walk down to the Hot Spot to barbecue and picnic in the afternoons, or head in the other direction to access the oceanfront Bluff Trail at dramatic Black Point Beach (two miles). You'll also be equidistant to the heated pools, tennis courts, and saunas at Ohlson and Moonraker (two miles), two of Sea Ranch's three recreation centers. The entire home is yours to enjoy -- make yourself at home from the moment you arrive. This home welcomes up to 1 dog -- the yard and nearby trails are ready for your pup. Driveway parking is available at the property. Detailed check-in instructions, including the door code, will be provided prior to your arrival. As a guest, you also have access to Sea Ranch community amenities including the pools, tennis courts, fitness center, and miles of trails. A recreation pass will be provided.
Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times. Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast. Spring (April-June) brings a wildflower show across the coastal meadows -- lupine, poppies, and iris paint the landscape. Summer (June-September) brings the warmest days and longest light. Morning fog is common along the coast -- it usually burns off by midday. Welcome to bring 1 dog (up to 50 lbs.). Please keep your dog on a leash on trails and clean up after them. Cell service can be spotty along the coast. The home has WiFi for staying connected.

There are NOT enough stars to properly rate the Redwood forests that this property sits in. The communications with the responsible person to actually get the address had broke down...they claimed they sent it to my email and text vs. Communications through Booking com when I had to call them direct. Plus I am confused by all the 10+++ ratings on the site? It is not clear when booking about the spa and pools location and access.. No clear description of how challenging getting luggage to the cabin if its wheeled. The bedroom up a large flight of stairs did not work for me. Downstairs the wear and tear on the tile, carpets and furnishings was barely acceptable... How chinsey to have a cabin in the magnificent Redwood forest and its not priced like I am tent camping, yet I had to bring my own firewood for the fireplace AND charcoal had I wanted to use the tiny grill on the nice deck immersed in the magnificent forest and did not know that detail until after I arrived. I think its inappropriate to rate anything to do with the facility compared to the forest itself. I was UNABLE to locate the Deep Woods from the online picture, that's how "off" its represented... Stepping outside into the forest immediately blocked the very mediocre cabin...

Athena, the way you described stepping outside into that forest and having it completely overshadow the cabin itself actually stopped us in our tracks. That contrast is exactly what we needed to hear. You raised fair points about the condition of the furnishings and carpets downstairs, and we want you to know that new carpet has just been installed. We're also reviewing how we communicate details like firewood, charcoal, luggage access, and the spa and pool location before guests arrive, because none of that should be a surprise when you get there. The photos not matching what you found is something we're taking seriously and looking into as well. We're grateful you were honest with us. You deserved a cabin that matched the forest around it, and we fell short of that.

The place was VERY clean , ESPECIALLY all the windows and skylights !The woods and peace and quite was absolutely AWESOME !The kitchen and the rest of the cabin was VERY well equipped !Our two dogs had an awesome time !We liked the fact that we felt like we were alone in a cabin in the woods but we were still close to whatever we needed or wanted to go .We talked about staying there again in the future .

We had a great stay. Located close to all what you need. It was nice cleaned and comfortable. Only thing was no TV. I didn’t notice anywhere in description that there was none. But it had wifi so that was good. All in all will be back and recommend a great place to stay.
