The stay

Wake to harbor seals splashing in Bodega Harbor from this three-level retreat perched above the water. Curl up by either fireplace with fresh crab from Spud Point (0.4 mi) while whales migrate past your windows. Room for 8 with privacy across three floors. Just steps from South Salmon Creek Beach (0.4 mi) and the famous Birds filming locations. The wraparound deck becomes your front-row seat to Sonoma Coast sunsets — where the only soundtrack is harbor bells and sea birds.

The space

Spend mornings watching fishing boats motor out as the harbor wakes, afternoons walking Doran Beach or hunting tide pools at Pinnacle Gulch, and evenings on the deck with fresh crab and a glass of cool-climate Pinot. A white sectional faces the wood-burning stove on its raised stone hearth, picture windows pulling the harbor into every seat. Granite counters and stainless appliances line the back wall as a galley, with a six-seat dining table by the windows so meals stay anchored to the water view. The lower level is its own self-contained suite — bedroom, full bath, den with a second gas fireplace, and a games-and-work table — built for older kids or a remote-working partner who wants their own corner. OUTDOOR LIVING The wraparound deck becomes your outdoor room, composite decking and white railings framing the harbor panorama. Woven furniture includes a dining table for al fresco meals and lounge chairs for afternoon reading. A gas grill stands ready for fresh catch. Views stretch across the water to distant hills. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS The entire third floor serves as a loft primary bedroom with a king bed and sitting area overlooking the water. On the main floor, one bedroom has a queen and another has two twins. The lower-level suite adds a queen with its own full bath. Sleeps 8. PROPERTY AMENITIES -- Full kitchen with stainless steel appliances -- Washer and dryer -- Two 55-inch TVs with Roku streaming -- Gas grill -- Wraparound deck with outdoor dining -- Parking for 4

Guest access

Settle in beneath the soaring A-frame ceilings as the harbor opens out through the window wall — bay views from the kitchen, the dining table, and the deck. The whole home is yours, with a wood-burning fireplace, a gas fireplace, and outdoor dining set up under the vaulted beams. Your check-in details land before you arrive, and the driveway out front holds up to four cars.

Things to know

The home features security cameras at the front driveway for everyone's safety and comfort. Four staircases connect the three levels — something to consider with young children. While there's only partial air conditioning on the middle level, the coastal breezes and morning fog keep the home naturally cool year-round. You'll have two fireplaces to choose from on chilly evenings — the wood-burning stove in the living room or the gas fireplace in the lower-level den. For streaming services, you'll need to log in with your own accounts on the Roku TVs. The dramatic A-frame architecture means sloped ceilings in the loft bedroom — cozy but worth noting for taller guests. The wraparound deck offers the best sunset views in Bodega Bay — don't miss the golden hour when the harbor lights up. Bring layers even in summer; coastal fog rolls in most mornings and evenings can be chilly.

Paul, the view from Whaleship Harbor View really is something, and we're glad it delivered for you. A four-star stay is a good one, but we'd genuinely love to know what would have made it a five. Even a small detail we might have overlooked can make a real difference for the overall experience, and hearing it from guests like you is honestly how we get better. Thank you for spending your time with us, and for taking a moment to share your thoughts.

Perfect house for a weekend getaway, everything was really comfy and as expected. You can walk (about 10-15 minutes) to Bodega Dunes Beach.

Nice area and proactive communication (about what to expect for check in/out etc). netflix, hulu, and Disney plus was available which was convenient for us. hot water was enough for 6 girls showering at night which was a plus. Unfortunately place was dusty and there were dead bugs (rolly-polies?) in the corners of the rooms and under the couch. I found 5-6 spiders in my room right by my bed. Fortunately I dont care much about spiders and would much rather deal with those than bed bugs or cockroaches. But I would have expected better cleanliness with the amount we are paying to stay over 1 weekend. One other con that others may not realize from the listing is that there are no curtains/black out blinds. If you like to sleep in, this place may not be for you.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad you enjoyed the location. Appreciated the TV options and found there was plenty of hot water for everyone regarding your comments. Our home is professionally clean before each guest arrival because the house is located on coastal sand dunes and a is often enjoyed with large sliding glass doors open and very fine. Sand particles can occasionally settle indoors and be mistaken for us as with many homes and a coastal environment the occasional bug or spider may find its way inside the residence despite our regular pest control effort some bugs cannot survive long and doors because they require moisture, but we will certainly remind our Housekeeping team to pay extra attention to ensure areas between guests. regarding the window. The home is intentionally designed to maximize the beautiful natural light in coastal abuse. The window coverings are kept light and are for that reason we recognize that some guests prefer a darker sleeping environment while others enjoy waking up at the sunshine because of the damp coastal climate heavy drapes are generally not the best option, but I appreciate the feedback and will continue evaluating ways to balance guest comfort with homes, unique setting we appreciate your comments and are always looking for ways to improve Guest experience.

This was a beautiful place at one time, and parts of the home, and the location still are, but there was a strong mildew smell in the first floor throughout the stay, and the knots in the wood ceiling are stained with mildew. If they can fix these issues and a minor crack in the front window, it will be back to its former glory and worth the price.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We really appreciate hearing from our guests because it helps us continue carrying and improving the home. We’re truly sorry you stayed and meet your expectations. We understand how frustrating and disappointing that must have felt and we are letting us know about your concerns. We take a comment about the downstairs odor seriously because the home is a coastal property that sits unoccupied several days each week we know it can sometimes be a challenge to keep the lower level constantly fresh. We’re actually working on this with additional steps to improve air circulation and freshness in the area. A dehumidifier has been set up downstairs in a fan will be installed to integrate upstairs air downstairs to keep the airflow evenly throughout the whole house. If a replacement of the home front window array had already been scheduled because of normal coastal weather exposure and the project was completed after your status as part of our ongoing care for the home regarding the ceiling. Imagine it is original naughty pine. The darker areas are natural resin from the wood knots, which can sometimes start through the pain overtime and are not mildew we have spoken with painting professionals about possible options while also being mindful of preserving our character of the original wood, we appreciate your feedback and the chance to respond our goal is always to provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay and we hope future guests will continue to enjoy the home coastal, studying spacious design and carefully maintained furnishings
