The stay

Soak in the deck hot tub as redwoods tower around this Cazadero retreat. Inside, knotty pine cabinets meet dark granite at the U-shaped kitchen, and a black wood stove warms the open living room. Walk forest paths 0.7 miles to Point of ridge, or 1.5 miles to Cape Fear Café. Dogs welcome.

The space

Spend mornings on the deck as mist lifts off the Russian River, afternoons floating the river or visiting Korbel and Joseph Jewell tasting rooms, and evenings around the firepit with the day's bottles. The heart of the home wraps a stone-framed wood-burning stove. Sink into the seating, browse the board games, or slip into the separate sunroom with its own TV, writing desk, and vaulted ceilings. Knotty pine cabinets in the kitchen echo the forest outside, a gas range and dishwasher ready for any meal. Pull up to the dining table for six or claim a stool at the bar — Caz at its most lived-in. OUTDOOR LIVING The wraparound deck offers multiple levels — grill on the upper deck, dine outdoors, or soak in your private hot tub surrounded by redwoods. The covered front porch and game table in the secluded yard provide even more space. A fenced play yard with picnic table and seesaw is for kids and dogs. SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Two peaceful bedrooms each offer a queen bed with traditional wood furniture against pale yellow walls. Sleeps 4. Neighborhood

Cazadero is a quiet redwood canyon community minutes from the Russian River. Forest paths start 0.7 miles from the door, Cape Fear Café is 1.5 miles away, and Guerneville's shops, restaurants, and Johnson's Beach are about 20 minutes. Armstrong Redwoods and the Sonoma Coast at Jenner make classic day trips.

Drop into the private hot tub on a deck wrapped by old-growth redwoods, then stoke the wood-burning stove inside under exposed beams. The whole single-level cabin is yours, dog included — the multi-level decks keep you tucked away in the forest. Let yourself in with the keypad code, and pull up to two cars in front.

Things to know

The cabin stays naturally cool under the redwood canopy — there's no air conditioning, and most evenings don't need it. Cell service gets patchy in the redwoods, so download offline maps before you arrive; WiFi is available at the cabin. Dogs are welcome, and the fenced play yard is theirs too.
